7 years ago I watched aghast as Prince’s voice and likeness were used for a duet in a manner that he would not have consented to, had he been alive to give it, under the guise of “honoring him”.
A call with a deeply distraught and grief stricken mutual friend led me to it.
It broke my heart, the mishandling of his legacy.
Personally, I think the best way to honor someone is to actually honor them and their very clearly stated beliefs and wishes.
Instead one of his beloved muses was now crying... and I felt... rage.
So I started to write this song about that ....and then my own personal grief (and gratitude) started to emerge and pour out of me so I honored that too.
Today marks the 9th anniversary of his passing, so today felt like the day to finally put it out into the world. It won’t be available for streaming or anywhere else but on my site directly from me, the way he would have had me do it.
Hope it moves you.
Love, E
